A photo tour...

I have scrounged some pictures from various web sites (primarily Mary Lee) to add to my few pictures and collected them here.  This will give you an idea what the island is like before I get there.  I hope to keep you up to date with current pictures starting as soon as the island warms my feet.

This view shows Broad Creek to the right. It is a major path from Card Sound to open water (ocean). A lot of water goes through there with each tide change. That is why this creek is so deep compared to the rest of the bays in the area which run from 1ft to 8ft. deep. To the left in the picture the depths range from 1ft to 2ft. (if my navigation charts are correct). You could walk to the next island!

This is the primary access to the island. Items of note are the boathouse, dock and (center) the Keeper's house.

The field behind and to the right of the keeper's house is kept cleared for helicopter landing. Not included in this older picture is a small building used for research.

Maybe the center piece of the island is the "Big House". It is a 5 bedroom 6 bath facility with full kitchen, screened open air dining area, living room (picture below) and various other amenities to make the stay comfortable and relaxing.

  1. What a great page! Really gives me a feel for the place, from general to specific. Good job!

  2. Do you have any Before & After pictures of the grounds & interiors, etc.? From the sounds of it, you've been busy reclaiming the place from the FL jungle wilds outside & previous use/abuse by some of the interior "wild life" elsewhere!
